Kirklevington

Primary School

Ready, Respectful and Safe

Welcome

Welcome to Kirklevington Primary School.  We are a smaller than average primary school, with a 26 place nursery, on the outskirts of Yarm.

We are situated in the centre of Kirklevington Village and being a small school means our staff know the children and families very well. We value teamwork and enjoy working in partnership with our parents, carers and the local community.  We work closely with our governors and trustees and are part of The 1590 Trust, collaborating regularly with the other schools in the Trust on curriculum enhancements and wider opportunities.

We have designed our school curriculum to promote three key areas, ‘Be ready, be respectful and be safe’ and the curriculum focuses on developing qualities, such as ambition, independence and resilience, which we want for our children.

We aim to provide every child with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary that they will need to succeed in all aspects of their lives, both academically and personally.

Our dedication to providing a range of experiences for children can be seen through our commitment to sporting activities, resulting in us being one of a small number of schools to achieve the School Games Platinum Award.

We are a Unicef Gold Rights’ Respecting School, which means children learn about the rights of all children, encouraging children to play an active part in school life, whilst preparing them to be global citizens of the future.

Being a small school means that from year one onwards, we have mixed classes and the organisation of class groups may change from year to year dependent upon a range of criteria, including friendships, emotional development, social dynamics, gender and ability. We do have some places available within the school, if you would like to find out more, please contact our School Administrator, Mrs Walker, on 01642 781261.

Kirklevington Primary School is a nut-free school as several of our children have nut allergies that require epi-pens.  If they are in an environment which contains nuts, they will have a serious reaction which may need an ambulance to be called.  Please could you respect the school’s nut-free policy and ensure that all food brought into school does not contain nuts.  This way, we can ensure that all children are safe in school.
