What is a Rights Respecting School?

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is a human rights treaty that underpins all of the work carried out by Unicef, the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. Unicef work with families, local communities, partners and governments in more than 190 countries to help every child to survive and thrive. The CRC sets out the rights of every person under 18 and how those rights should be met. These include:

At Kirklevington Primary School children’s understanding of their rights has been developed through creating Classroom Charters.  We have also developed charters for other areas of school including the library and lunchtimes.  We also seek to embed the CRC into our curriculum as widely as possible to help our children learn about the diverse world in which we live.
